Public Health & Vaccinations

Recommended Vaccinations: Routine vaccinations (MMR, Hepatitis A, Typhoid) are recommended for all travellers to Sri Lanka. Yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory only when arriving from a country with active yellow fever transmission risk.

Health Insurance: Comprehensive travel health insurance covering medical treatment, hospitalisation, and emergency evacuation is strongly recommended, as healthcare quality varies significantly outside Colombo and can be expensive for tourists.

Advisory: Dengue fever is endemic throughout Sri Lanka, especially during and after monsoon seasons — use DEET-based insect repellent and wear long sleeves at dusk. Tap water is not reliably safe to drink; stick to sealed bottled water for the entire stay.
